Aim of the course

The course is aimed to provide theory and practical training in the role of the Overhead Travelling Crane operator enabling candidates to competently and safely carry out the role with a view to confidently achieving the relevant CPCS Theory and Practical tests.

The A64 Overhead Travelling Crane course is for people with limited or no experience of operating an Overhead Travelling Crane.

Entry Requirements

To be able to enter and complete this course  you must have the following contents with you.

  • NI Number
  • Existing CSCS Card Number
  • Valid ID
  • In-date CITB HS&E Touch Screen Test*
  • Understanding to be able to read, write and speak English to a good level

*Candidates MUST have in-date CITB Health, Safety and Environment Touch Screen Test which has been completed within two years of the course examination date. 

Testing

Two days learning through a mix of classroom-based teaching and practical exercises, followed by one day assessment – CPCS technical tests.

Qualification

Successful candidate will receive a Red CPCS Trained Operator Card on passing the CPCS technical tests. The card is valid for two years and for the availability to upgrade to Blue CPCS Card upon the completion of an NVQ Level 2 within the two years.
