A14 ROUGH TERRAIN MASTED FORKLIFT

Aim of the course

To provide thorough practical and theory training in operating a Rough Terrain Forklift, to enable the candidate to competently and safely operate the machine and pass the CPCS Theory and Practical Tests.

Course Content

  • Risks associated with quick hitch devices and how to use them safely
  • Operating the machine to a minimum standard
  • Fitting and operating ancillary equipment
  • Siting the machine safely and efficiently
  • Carrying out minor adjustments and routine servicing procedures
  • Preparing the machine for travelling on the public highway
  • The capabilities of each machine, its purpose and limitations
  • All safety precautions necessary for the correct operation of the machine
  • How diesel engines work and how various parts of the machine operate
  • Which routine adjustments and servicing procedures are necessary, and how to carry them out.

The A14 Rough Terrain Masted Forklift course is aimed at people who require a formal qualification for operating a Rough Terrain Forklift.

COurse Overview

  • Operating the machine on all normal tasks for which it is designed
  • Deciding whether a particular load is safe to lift
  • Carrying out routine plant servicing procedures and maintenance in accordance with the manufacturers instructions
  • Carry out minor adjustments and routine servicing procedure
  • Preparing and driving the machine on public highways, and loading in onto a transporter in accordance with the requirements of the Road Traffic Acts
  • The purpose and capabilities of the machine and any relevant safety precautions necessary for its operation
  • How the machine works and the maintenance requirements involved
  • The effect of load, size, weight, gradients and ground conditions upon machine stability
  • The loading, storage and transit of representative materials
  • The basis construction of pallets
  • The permitted loading of scaffolds

3 Day Course (2 Days Training & 1 Day Testing)

4 Day Course (3 Days Training & 1 Day Testing)

On Site – Apple Construction Training Centre

Entry Requirements

To be able to enter and complete this course  you must have the following contents with you.

  • NI Number
  • Existing CSCS Card Number
  • Valid ID
  • In-date CITB HS&E Touch Screen Test*
  • Understanding to be able to read, write and speak English to a good level

*Delegates MUST have in-date CITB Health, Safety and Environment Touch Screen Test which has been completed within two years of the course examination date. 

Testing

Mixture of classroom-based teaching and practical exercises, followed by one day assessment. 

Qualification

Successful candidate will receive a Red CPCS Trained Operator Card on passing the CPCS technical tests. The card is valid for two years and for the availability to upgrade to Blue CPCS Card upon the completion of an NVQ Level 2 within the two years.
